Our government projects range from a 360 square foot pump station to a 158,000 sf air freight terminal with utility operations centers, administrative offices, maintenance shops, service yards, and public meeting rooms.  More than 40 projects have been completed for 20 different special use districts, several cities and the Port of Seattle.

As agencies and departments continues to assess vulnerabilities and threats and as new facilities are developed, there is a continuing need to mitigate potential vulnerabilitiess through innovative and cost effective design. Through our work with numerous government agencies and financial institutions, we have gained a great deal of experience in addressing these issues.

Gaining Conditional Use Permits, Zoning Variances and other similar regulatory permits and declarations is essential to our clients' projects. Our special approvals success rate continues at over 95%. To accomplish this, we often work with the communities and neighbors who might otherwise oppose the project.  Through making an effort to listen to their concerns we can develop a design that can be supported by the community while still meeting the client’s needs.

As a firm that specializes in the design of owner occupied facilities, nearly all of our more than 500 completed projects are occupied by the people who hired us. When you consider that 82% of our work is for repeat clients, you realize that we are able to meet our clients' needs time after time, with each new design and new project.

Since 1991 more than 80% of our work has been for repeat clients. This has led to the design of 24 InterWest Bank branches, 17 Bill Pierre automotive facilities, 8 Great Northwest Federal Credit Union projects, 15 First Mutual Bank Projects, and many others.

Since our beginning in 1980, The Driftmier Architects has earned a reputation for designing successful, innovative projects that are delivered on time and within budget. This includes total project scheduling with Microsoft Project, and a series of cost estimates starting with a rough project budget and working toward a Final Pre-bid Technical Estimate.

We provide a complete spectrum of design services from site selection through move-in. This includes market surveys, needs analysis, site evaluations, interior design, space planning, selection of furnishings, and numerous other services.
