    City Center Building

The Driftmier Architects worked with the Nelson Legacy Group to update and remodel the City Center Building. The structure was originally built in 1973 and was previously rented by the City of Redmond. Many improvements were needed to bring the building up to code and ready for use by new commercial tenants.
Interior remodel work consisted of a reorganization of the two main lobbies, new interior windows, new paint, carpet and finishes, and new lighting. Because the ceiling was originally built low, and it was not feasible to raise the ceiling, a solution was created to vault up into the structure to create lighting alcoves that gave the impression the ceiling was higher. This, along with wall sconces and a warm color scheme, helped turn a dimly-lit hallway into a welcoming lobby space.
Because the elevator was original to the building, it had to be brought up to current standards and regulations. The Driftmier Architects worked with the contractor, Woodman Construction, to come to the best possible solution for resolving this and other issues encountered.
